Dear AFA Members and Friends,

Friends, as I begin my 2-year term as President of the Gabriel Chapter, I want to express my appreciation to the membership for their vote of confidence and installing a great chapter team. Beginning this month, we have a new Chapter Council that is committed to fulfilling the mission of the Chapter and the Association with energy, integrity and dedication.

Our chapter exists to support the mission of the Air Force Association -- to promote a dominant United States Air Force and a strong national defense, and to honor Airmen and our Air Force Heritage. To accomplish this Gabriel chapter will EDUCATE the public on the critical need for unmatched aerospace power and a technically superior workforce to ensure U.S. national security with our membership activities, community outreach, and speakers at chapter functions.

We will ADVOCATE for aerospace power, STEM education and promote aerospace education though our support for high school Cyber Patriot teams, support for science programs, and scholarship activities, particularly at our local high schools Battlefield HS in Haymarket and Chantilly Academy HS in Fairfax. And we will SUPPORT the total Air Force family,

through our ongoing activities and our annual salute to the National Reconnaissance Office as well as through advocacy for the families of active duty airmen and the needs of our veterans.

You, as a member of the chapter, are both the ends and the means to achieve our purpose. The members of our chapter are the active duty airmen, veterans, their families, and fellow citizens who are committed to making our Air Force great. The Chapter's members are the focus of our activities to promote the Air Force and support the Air Force family. Our members are also the means to achieve our purpose -- as an organization of volunteers none of our activities can happen without member participation.

Although we are honored to have an energetic cadre of volunteers working on a variety of activities to serve you and the community, there are many upcoming opportunities for you to join in to help. To achieve our goals as a chapter, I want to encourage each member to participate and make a difference. If you have an interest in serving the goals of our chapter and the AFA, let me hear from you. A little or a lot - it doesn't matter - you can be a part of this great tradition that is the AFA.
